"Di Meola meets Miami Vice! This is a Jan Hammer composition, which should be obvious to anyone who remembers the things he did for the Miami Vice soundtracks at about the same time this LP was released. Jan was really into this kind of computer sequencing groove when he and Al teamed up and Al’s soloing techniques (especially palm-muting) work really well in this environment. Listen to some of Jeff Beck’s work with Hammer in the late “70s and note the interesting differences (and similarities) between Beck and Di Meola when they solo over a Jan Hammer jam."
