I (Torley) am one person, but my backstory is that there’s an omniverse, with a version of me in some alternate universes. I travel to other realities to collect “aural relics” (think Indiana Jones artifacts), which can then be transformed into music in our research labs. I was weaned on classical piano and decided to rebel, hence the Glitch Piano album, which is thematically about instruments playing humans and enslaving us as any malevolent alien race with good intentions would do.

In particular, “Light Leaks” is named that way because I seek sonic equivalents of optical phenomena (I \u003C3 lo-fi and other photography with “personality”). I thought about opening the aperture and being subject to the ensuing magic. But in this case, I visualized a kind of grim soldier’s march into the front lines of battle (the drum patterns), sort of like the delicate balance between horror and beauty when viewing war documentaries. I was definitely inspired by headbanger metal in peripheral ways… and my cat Sushi makes a vocal appearance at the end. :D
