"I find it helpful to think of a piece of fruit that has gone bad. Yes, I paid good money for that apple. But I didn’t eat it while it was still good, and now it is no longer edible. I would be foolish to continue holding onto it. The difference with non-perishable items is there is no clear time that they “go bad."
